Artist Note

The full title is actually:  "The taming of Chaos, ...that faraway underground cavern, beyond which live the Titans"

In Greek mythology, it was from the ‘mother’, Chaos, that all other orders of Gods, demigods & mortals arose. The 1st and 2nd orders of gods were the 12 Titans who in due course were overthrown by the Olympians. It was in reference to these ‘origin’ myths that the optimistic doyens of the White Star Line began to name the new ‘unsinkable’ fleet of ships they commissioned from Harland & Wolff in Belfast. Our place as mortals was strongly reinforced on the night of the 14-15th April 1912.
