Artist Note

This is a painting from a recent visit to Catalonia, in the South of France. The area has a long and rich artistic heritage from Matisse to Dali, Picasso and Braque and it’s little wonder - the orange rooftops and ramshackle buildings are artistic heaven. More than any other I think this painting shows the influence on my work of Lyonel Feininger who incidentally never went to Catalonia!
